Story
Hi there,
Cooper and I are running the 5km Colour Run on Saturday 16th April. We have decided to use this opportunity to raise some money for a charity that is close to both of our hearts- Ovarian Cancer Australia. This organisation does great work in raising awareness of this incidious disease and also in ongoing reaseach and support for people who have ovarian cancer and their families. We are raising money in memory of my mum (Cooper's Nonna) who passed away from ovarian cancer 4 years ago, after battling with it for over 4 years. Through this page, you can support our efforts by making a secure donation. - In Australia the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 49%.
- In comparison, the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with breast cancer is 92%
- Each year, over 1,800 Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and around 1,000 women will die from the disease
- 70% of patients diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer will have a recurrence within 3 years
- There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer
- The disease can affect females of all ages
